Fighting Hunger in the Digital Age

It can be hard to remember a time when computers and the internet weren't a dominant force in our everyday lives — especially living in Silicon Valley, where our community thrives on the promise of new technology and the benefits it can have on the world.

In the era of online banking, instant messaging, and social networking, we here at Second Harvest have been exploring new ways of using virtual tools to feed more people and provide easier ways for everyone to get involved in our mission.

Ways You Can Support Second Harvest Virtually

Make a donation: Make a contribution through our Virtual Food Drive donation portal. This unique tool shows you how far Second Harvest can stretch your dollar. Using our secure donation page on the VFD is quick, safe, and green! Donate Now

Use our mailing list to stay up to date: You can choose to receive our monthly eNewsletter, Advocacy Alerts or make sure you get everything by joining the General list.

Check out our blogs: We have recently launched two blogs — Food Bank News and Advocacy Alerts — to keep our supporters up-to-date. Subscribe by RSS Feed on the blogs.

Be our virtual friend: Add us as a friend on MySpace, or join our Facebook or LinkedIn groups! We will continue to post events, videos and other exciting news flashes for our online community.

Coordinate a virtual Friends and Family Drive: You don't need to be part of a corporation or community group to run a food and fund drive. The Friends and Family Drive is a great way to involve your loved ones in the act of giving. Start Here

Link to us: If you have your own blog or website, why not show your support and link to us? We make it easy: click here to find the perfect graphic to display. All you have to do is copy and paste the corresponding code into your site, and the linked image will show up on the page. We're happy to help if you need it.

Feel free to send us an e-mail at webmaster@shfoodbank.com with questions and/or ideas on how to tap into the power of the internet. We welcome your comments!
